This week, I wrote a guest post for the Green Alliance blog about why I think greens aren’t just justified in flying, but should probably do it more. It’s available here: http://tiny.cc/1ami5w I was quite surprised by the scale of the response, not least because it was generally positive!

I also wrote a column for BusinessGreen on how the sustainable business circuit risks becoming a tiresome, jargon-filled parody of itself http://tiny.cc/idmi5w

I’m sure readers won’t necessarily agree with either article, but I hope it provides some weekend food for thought.

One Response to “Two challenges to the sustainable business movement”

  1. Brendan, I haven’t read your first article, but I whole heartedly agree with the sustainable business circuit one as you know we share very very similar views about the insanity that seems to be happening. Sustainable business is two a penny, sustainability managers grow on trees and the head up backsideness of the whole bandwagon seems never ending. Your most pertinent line is about the bleedingly obvious nature of it all. I am worried though for those of us who are genuinely trying to haul monolithic or resistant companies down this path, doing it in a language and operational approach that is a million miles from what most sustainability managers know about or experience. In fact, I would go so far as to say that at least 75% of the sustainability has NO CLUE about business…. but that’s just me.
